Each certainly have their advantages and disadvantages. The focus of today will be on the benefits of working in the mornings.
Working AM shifts mean that sleep schedule is likely to be more aligned with what our body is used to. We are not nocturnal beings by nature. Sleep is also more likely to come easier as nights are dark and generally more quiet.
Mornings are a busy time. Therefore, more staff can be seen during the morning shifts. It is therefore a fair statement that more support is available during the day than at night.
Depending on start time, AM shifts generally finish early afternoon. This leaves afternoons and evenings free. For parents with young children, this leaves their afternoons open for school performances or other important appointments.
It is worth noting that we get many shifts in the mornings compared to afternoons and nights. Anyone available for morning shifts will find there is a lot of work out there, particularly if they answer early morning calls and pick up shifts on the day.
