1) Getting a qualification is easy

In all honesty, getting a qualification in Aged Care is as simple as going through a 6-month course. This will include placement experience – often3 weeks (or 120hrs). The degree you’d want to complete could be Certificate III or IV in Individual Support or Ageing Support.

Not only would you get the amazing opportunity to care for those of different cultures and backgrounds, you’d also be rewarded with fascinating stories the residents would be more than happy to share. Simply put, this is a great way of building meaningful connections.

3) Consistent work

Better technology and modern medicines means life expectancy is continuously improving. There will always be a demand for Aged Care workers as there is a consistent flow of residents coming into age care facilities. You can be assured there is plenty of work and support. It is the mission of the Royal Commission to ensure aged care workers have enough support and care which reflects the ratio of nurses/carers to residents within each facility.

4) Various career paths

In such a large industry there is constant opportunity for career growth. You may start your career as a Personal Care Assistant/Aide (PCA) and progress further. Here are just some roles you can work towards:
